To get to the point of this post—Does everyone remember that post that Oriae made mentioning the bonus gear some of us got?

Well, I got some bonus gear myself, and I'll confirm that it wasn't CCCorp! Or anyone in this game...or "world". In fact I was told that it was cursed before being warned to stop using it or otherwise I'd be harmed.

Sounds kind of crazy doesn't it?

When I talked to him, he kept talking like he was a part of the game. I don't know how to explain it. He said he's always "been here." Not an employee, or a volunteer, or even an NPC. I still can't really wrap my mind around it, but those sprites might be the same.

We've talked a little bit about that, but I don't think it's for me to share here.

I do feel like they coule be the same as him.

How many other NPCs that are like Zelkova exist in the game?
If it was intentional in the first place.

Yeah...good point.

Especially if they keep "adding" new towns and they suddenly have creatures? people in them? that act like they've been here forever. It's weird to think about and I don't like it.

I'm not as bothered by them acting as though they have been here for a while.
That could be part of the flavor text added to make the game seem more like a game.
It's...when they seem to recognize things or behave in a way that isn't typical of an NPC.
I understand dialogue trees can get pretty extensive but there are definitely limits and where it's obvious that they aren't supposed to be reacting a certain way...

I don't know. It's just weird. I still don't believe things can be "cursed" in a video game, but it might be worth taking another look at this armor.

I do; I know exactly what you mean and it's why I also worry.
It might be pointless in doing so, but I don't want them to get caught up in whatever is tangled up in us. It wasn't as though they were programmed to deal with all of this.

Obviously I have my reasons for being wary of mine, and while I'm not going to be wearing it, I wonder if we'll get new ones with this new level cap.
I don't like looking at things too negatively but it's something to keep in mind for sure.

Was yours bad, then? Mine felt silly, like it was a jab at my job. I thought it was just a custom present from CC Corp for taking part in the beta but I'm not so sure now.

No, mine wasn't bad at all; it was rather cute and suited me perfectly. I equipped it almost immediately.
I believe when they were starting to appear someone had asked Zelkova before about the special armor and he said it hadn't been from CC Corp.
Of course then these NPCs said the same thing except referring to it as "artifacts" and were also afraid of it while letting me know that they were cursed.

What if they were like living? Or AI that's evolved past its original programming? It sounds silly when I type it out LOL very sci-fi. Ignore me if it sounds too out there. Lol

That's kind of terrifying. Especially if our mods didn't know about them. Thanks for letting me know.

No, it doesn't sound that far out there. It's something that I've wondered to and then if that's the case then what does it mean?
What is the deciding factor? How many are there?

The more we think like that, the scarier things sound, doesn't it?
I'm not sure if that would be good for us in the long term....
