this is very true. i've never really joined a big mmo like this before. in a way its sort of intimidating

We are only in the beta testing stage, so it isn't really that big yet, is it?

I think it must be similar for at least a decent amount of people here. Forums aren't real time, and you aren't speaking face to face, so it's difficult to say that you're meeting them all at once.

Ingame is yet a different matter.
