not especially! after all they are novels. if you wanted self insertion you'd go for the dating sims and stuff i think

though i do sometimes like imagining myself as the mc sometimes! exciting stuff! but i'd probably make stupider decisions than in the novel ahaha

Some regular visual novels have multiple routes and endings depending on choices too. I like to see what ending I get on my own choices, then I'll look up the other endings if I don't have time to replay and get them all myself.
