I'm not as bothered by them acting as though they have been here for a while. That could be part of the flavor text added to make the game seem more like a game. It's...when they seem to recognize things or behave in a way that isn't typical of an NPC. I understand dialogue trees can get pretty extensive but there are definitely limits and where it's obvious that they aren't supposed to be reacting a certain way...
